Located off the breakfast room on our third floor, it faces the harbor and Goat Island and looks down on the restored town commons. The steeple of Trinity Church rises over the rail like a friendly neighbor. When the QEII is in town is seems so close that you would swear you could call out and strike up a conversation with one of the passengers aboard.
The view is breathtaking at any time of day.
Over breakfast you can watch Newport's fishing fleet and work boats head out for
another day. The prevailing wind
here is from the southwest and it is so reliable that sailors call it the Noon Train. If
you chose to have your lunch up on our deck you will see the cruising sailboats taking
their places off Beavertail Light to catch the first puff of breeze and head out to
Martha's Vineyard or Block Island. In the afternoon you can often watch J-boats,
Lightnings and other sailboat classes racing in the bay. Restored schooners glide by,
along with America's Cup boats practicing or playing.
The Pilgrim House offers the perfect setting to toast the sunset with a bottle of champagne at the end of a fun-filled day.
